The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren Laboratory is a premier research and development center that serves as a specialty site for weapon system integration. This position is being posted in anticipation of a bid award, where CIPS is aiming to meet the IT operational needs of the NSWCDD.
POSITION/TITLE: Senior Systems Engineer (Network)
POSITION'S HOURS/SHIFT: 40 hours, M-F between the hours of 7:00 AM- 5:30 PM

POSITION SUMMARY:
Computer Integration & Programming Solutions Corp. (CIPS), located in Bethesda, MD is seeking Senior level System Network Engineer to provide system and network administration support services to include design, installation, operations, maintenance, disaster recovery and administration of stand-alone workstations and server systems, networked workstation and server systems, local area networks (LAN), wireless networks, and wide
area networks (WAN)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide configuration, installation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of data networking server, firewall, router, hub, and switch hardware and operating system software, as well as transmission media and protocols
Provide design and implementation in local area network (LAN)/ wide area network (WAN) corporate environments
Ensure customer and information assurance (IA) requirements are met.
Work with CISCO hardware such as servers, switches, routers, and other network devices and appliances
Assemble and configure new hardware, diagnose and correct hardware problems, perform upgrades, and install new or replacement hardware
Monitor and configure networks to ensure optimum performance, to identify threats and secure the network, and to identify and correct hardware, software, performance, and configuration problems.
Communicate with upper management, customer, and vendor to resolve LAN/WAN issues and plans for future upgrades
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Work independently with senior staff and with minimal supervision.
Must be able to handle both the documentation and technical requirements.
Work deliverables must meet Government objectives and quality control expectations
Analyze client requests and work in close cooperation to solve all request related issues;
Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience and Competencies:
Strong knowledge and subject matter expertise in the areas of local area network (LAN)/ wide area network (WAN) corporate environments
Working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies with routers, switches, fiber optics, firewalls and cable plant design
Good communication skills and experience in coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
Six (6) years of related design and implementation experience in local area network (LAN)/ wide area network (WAN Experience with utilizing commercially available database software packages (Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server and Microsoft Access)
Three (3) years of experience supporting DoD programs
EDUCATION:
BA or BS Information Management or BS in information systems, computer science, or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES REQUIRED:
DoD Directive 8570 IAT level 2 or higher
CLEARANCE:
Secret or Top Secret
